Weight Watchers announces more changes, including closing hundreds of studios and in-person appointments.

Please note that I am a WW member like you and do not represent or work for Weight Watchers. This post is for general information only. For any questions regarding your membership, please contact WW at 1(800)651-6000 or through their chat function.

Weight Watchers Closing Studios in 2023

WeightWatchers has made the decision to close or relocate many individual studios due to declining attendance. The changes will begin on March 26, 2023.

Some studios will remain open, but appointment times may change.

Below the location is the notification. “As of March 26th we will have a NEW schedule in this studio. Please check the times before going to the workshop. We look forward to seeing you.”

Other WW programs will continue to meet but will change locations, returning to meeting in churches, hotels and VA halls.

Other places will close meetings all together, and only virtual meetings will be offered.

Weight Watchers is closing hundreds of studios.

The notification states: “After much consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close this WW studio as of 3/26/23. At WW, we’re still committed to providing coaching and community to help you achieve your goals. Please join us for one of our virtual workshops. You can browse our trainers and find a virtual workshop time by selecting Virtual here in the Workshop Finder. We look forward to welcoming you.”

WW’s virtual (zoom) workshops led by local leaders will also be closed. National Virtual Workshops will continue and will be available during my hours throughout the day.

How to check the status of your WW workshops

Here’s how to check the status of WW in-person meetings in your area.

In the WW app, follow these steps:

  1. Click the menu (3 lines) at the top left of your app.
  2. Click on “Find Workshop”. Make sure it’s under “Personal” and not “Virtual”.
  3. Enter your zip code.
  4. Review locations in your area.

You can also use the app’s WW chat feature to ask a question or call Weight Watchers at 1(800)651-6000.

WW Lifetime Membership Changes

How will Lifetime status work for members if there is no in-person meeting in their area for them to discuss?

Current WW Lifetime members within a 50 mile radius of the in-person seminar received the following email.

“Good news! Your WW account has been extended by 334 days. You’re all set, there’s nothing else you need to do. You’re still enrolled in our recurring billing system, so your monthly billing date has also been extended. Your next recurring billing date the date is set for 3/01/2024. Have a great week. Your WW team.”

WW life status
Weight Watchers sent this email to many Lifetime members regarding their status regarding the closing of seminar locations.

If you did not receive the email and are a lifetime member without an in-person appointment near you, contact WW via the chat function or their 1-800 number to confirm that you have received a one-year renewal.

Continue weight loss

The good news is that Weight Watchers is not closing its program. Since Sima Sistani became the CEO of the Company a year ago, there have been many big changes. WW continues to be the leader in weight loss in the United States and around the world.

As someone who has been a member of WW for over 20 years, I know that these changes are not easy for many of us. While I don’t have all the answers, rest assured that I’m not going anywhere. I am committed to offering you weight loss support through Holy Mess for a long time to come.
