Gujarat Titans won the toss and chose to bowl. The Capitals were asked to punt and it didn’t work in their favor. Prithvi Shaw was dismissed early trying to play the ill-advised shot. Mohammed Shami took advantage of Shaw’s weakness and sent him back to the pavilion for just 7 runs. David Warner tried to get in but the shields kept spinning at the other end. After the power play, the score was 52-2. Shami was also sacked by Marsh.
Alzarri Joseph’s double over Warner and Rossouw after the powerplay broke the backbone of the Capitals’ batting. Now it was Sarfaraz Khan’s job. He did a decent job. He hung in there when others struggled. But 88 percent of his strikeouts did nothing for the Capitals. Axar Patel bowled the over and Capitals finished on 163/8. Rashid Khan did the damage with the ball at the end.

Gujarat Titans didn’t get off to an ideal start either. They had a lot of trouble when Saha and Gill were asked to go back to booth 4th on himself. Both the batsmen were attacking the opposition and putting up a good score. But Henrich Nortje’s pace was too hot for the Indian openers. Henrich Nortje broke the speed gun while bowling continuously at 150 kmph.
Hardik Pandya looked good with the bat but before he could do any huge damage, Khalil bowled an unplayable delivery to get rid of him. It was that ball that showed the huge potential that Khaliel has. While all this was going on, Sai Sudarshan was singing at GT VS DC.
He stroked slowly but held one end firmly. David Miller came in and both shots looked sorted. They took Gujarat Titans home with ease. Sai Sudarshan also hit Henrich Nortje for two sixes in the last over of the game. Now this is exactly why the IPL was bought. Seeing the young home batsmen take on world class bowlers is always a treat for the cricket community to watch.
