Jacob Chensley’s former attorney, “QAnon Shaman,” told Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Wednesday that he had not seen some of the videos of Chensley at the Capitol until Carlson aired them.
“The government knew for three hearings as we begged and begged to get this man out of solitary confinement, literally falling into a mental abyss, and during each of those three hearings, that Assistant US Attorney knew the bottom line. hearing was that Jake wasn’t violent,” former Chansley defense attorney Albert Watkins, co-founder of the Daily Caller and a member of the Daily Caller News Foundation’s board of emeritus, told Carlson.
Carlson broadcast video of Monday night’s riots, which showed Capitol Police officers escorting one of the protesters, a “QAnon shaman,” through the halls of the building. Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., the speaker of the House, provided Carlson with more than 41,000 hours of footage of the Capitol riot, Axios reported.
“The government knew. They knew Jake hung out with all these cops. They had that video. I didn’t get it,” Watkins said. “It was not revealed to me. It was not provided to me. I asked for it. I have submitted the necessary petitions for this. “Whether I did or not, they had an obligation, an absolute obligation, with zero discretion to provide it to me so that I could share it with my client.”
Jonathan Turley, professor of law at George Washington University on Twitter that Chensley’s current attorney, Bill Shipley, had not seen the videos either. Prosecutors are required to turn over potentially exculpatory evidence under the 7-2 Supreme Court ruling in Brady v. Maryland.
“It’s about our justice system being so compromised, the integrity and core of which we’ve held as a badge of honor for our entire history, has been turned into a disgusting disgusting mess by a Justice Department that’s crazy. and they didn’t release the video of my client, the footage of my client, with nine officers calmly surrounding him, wandering around, trying to help him, trying to get him into the Senate chamber,” Watkins told Carlson. “They didn’t because it didn’t fit their narrative. And if you discovered that, I don’t know where we’d be.”
