Toyota subsidiary KINTO has announced the nationwide launch of KINTO Flex, a new subscription-based, monthly hybrid car rental program that offers Australians the chance to own a car without being locked into a long-term rental program.
This can be useful for people who typically wait 6-12 months or longer for their new car order to be shipped to Australia, while still needing something decent modern to drive.
KINTO Flex has more than 160 national locations and allows you to shorten or extend the subscription depending on whether you need a small hatchback in the city, a family sedan, an SUV and more.
The service is managed via the KINTO smartphone app, from registration and choosing a car to unlocking the car and hitting the road.
It would be great if the big Australian car rental companies like Hertz and SIXT allowed self-service car rentals like this.
Kinto subscribers pay a monthly fee plus a per-kilometer fee that includes fuel, insurance, 24-hour roadside assistance, service and maintenance, with no registration fee, security deposit or facility fee. Drive as little or as much as you need without extra km or driver fees.
KINTO Flex subscriptions start at $1,215 per month and $0.17 per kilometer driven, including fuel, 24-hour roadside assistance, service, maintenance.
Users can also extend their subscription through the digital self-service feature of the KINTO app, and if they are ready to cancel their KINTO Flex subscription, cancel for free with just 7 days’ notice from the next billing cycle.
KINTO CEO Mark Ramsay commented:
“We’ve seen a growing demand for short-term and flexible mobility, and KINTO Flex is the nation’s answer to those who want all the benefits of car ownership for those who don’t yet want to make the leap to owning their own car.”
“Travel is not for everyone, which is why we prioritize flexibility and create a service that aims to fit our customers’ lifestyles, not the other way around. KINTO Flex allows users to drive some of the latest cars without any long-term commitment and the flexibility to adapt to their lifestyle, and we hope Australians love KINTO Flex as much as we do.
