The development team of SALKER 2 has issued a statement following cyber attacks and blackmail

The developers of STALKER 2, GSC Game World, have reported a recent cyberattack that resulted in the loss of employee data and game assets. Hackers recently threatened to release 30GB of STALKER 2 data.

GSC Game World’s statement reads:

“It’s been over a year since we first started experiencing ongoing invasions. Blackmail, violence, hacking, threats against players and fans, as well as attempts to damage the development process and the reputation of our company have all been made against us,” the sentence reads.

It continues. “Please do not view or share anything about STALKER 2: HEART OF CHORNOBYL if there has been any leaks. The impact of the final idea we incorporated into the game may be diluted by outdated or in-progress content. For the best experience, we recommend that you wait patiently for the official release. We think you’ll like it.”

STALKER 2 has been hit with a lot of delays lately, most recently due to Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine. GSC Game World posted a video on YouTube about the challenges of creating a game during the June 2022 conflict.

December 2023 is the expected release date, which is just a placeholder. The game’s release date is currently slated for 2023, according to information posted on the developer’s official Discord server.
