The 11-year-old boy who was shot by the police returned home from the hospital after almost a week of treatment.
Adrienne Murry spent five days in the hospital with a collapsed lung, lacerated liver and broken ribs after an officer shot her in the chest early Saturday morning, attorney Carlos Moore said.
Adrienne was well enough to leave the hospital on Wednesday and is continuing her recovery at home in Indianola, about 95 miles northwest of Jackson, Mississippi.
Mr Moore said the family “demand justice”.
“In Indianola, an 11-year-old black boy was an inch away from losing his life. he had done nothing wrong and everything was right.”
Mr Moore said Adderien’s mother Nacala asked him to call the police at around 4am on Saturday when the previous partner turned up at the house.
Ms. Murry felt threatened, Mr. Moore said, and the child “called the police to help her mother, she called her grandmother to help her mother, the police came there and escalated the situation.”
Two police officers arrived and one kicked in the front door before Ms Murry opened it, saying the man was gone but her three children were inside.

Mr Moore said Sergeant Greg Capers, who is black, shouted that anyone inside should come out with their hands up.
When Adrien entered the living room with nothing in his hand, Capers shot him in the chest, Mr. Moore said.
Indianola City Attorney Kimberly Merchant confirmed to Indianola’s Enterprise-Tocsin newspaper that Capers was the officer who shot the little boy, and Mr. Moore said Thursday that Capers has been suspended with pay while the incident is investigated.
Ms Murry said her son was “blessed” to be alive, but she did not understand why the police officer shot him.

He described what happened as “the worst moment of my life”, adding: “I feel that nobody cares. that’s my baby, yes!”
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said its agents are looking into what happened and will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
