Peshawar beat Islamabad by 12 runs to exit the PSL after a thrilling game.
In the HBL PSL (Pakistan Super League) Group One, Peshawar Zalmi set Islamabad United a target of 184 runs to win.
The match between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United was postponed for some time due to rain in Lahore. Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan won the ball and decided to field first.
Saim Ayub and Babar Azam opened the innings for Peshawar Zalmi and both players gave their team a good start with 60 runs in 4.4 overs. Completed his fifth fifty of the tournament and was dismissed for 64 off 39 balls with 10 fours.
Mohammad Haris also played an innings of 34 runs while Hasebullah scored 16 runs and Tom Koehler Cudmore scored 16 runs. Peshawar Zalmi scored 183 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
For Islamabad United, Shadab Khan picked up two wickets while Faheem Ashraf, Fazal Haq Farooqui, Hasan Ali and Mohammad Wasim got one wicket each.
In reply, the Islamabad team failed to achieve the target and lost. The Islamabad team managed to score 171 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted over. Islamabad’s Sohaib Maqsood was the top scorer with 60 runs off 48 balls.
Besides, Alex Hales scored 57 runs and Shadab Khan scored 26 runs. For Peshawar, Aamir Jamal and Salman Irshad bowled brilliantly in the last over and both took two wickets. AmirJamal was adjudged Man of the Match for his 36 runs for 2 wickets.
With the win, Islamabad are out and Peshawar will face Lahore Qalandar in Group Two on Friday. The team that wins both will play Multan Sultans in the final on Sunday.
