Japan has announced that North Korea allegedly fired a missile into the sea.
Japan’s coast guard said it confirmed what appeared to be a North Korean missile fired Sunday morning.
Additional launch details were not immediately available, it said.
South Korea’s Yonhap news agency, citing the South’s military, reported that North Korea had launched a ballistic missile toward its eastern waters.
Calls to the southern Joint Chiefs of Staff were not immediately returned Sunday.
The launch, if confirmed, would be the North’s fourth round of weapons tests since the US and South Korean militaries began joint military exercises last week.
The North sees the exercises as an invasion attempt.
