Gas Giant Games is a new video game studio created by the collaboration of two famous developers working on the Diablo series and other AAA game developers.
Gas Giant Games is the name of a new gaming company founded by two former Blizzard developers best known for their work on the Diablo series. While the new game studio hasn’t revealed which game will serve as its flagship title, its team is made up of former employees from Blizzard, BioWare, Epic Games and other companies.
Gas Giant Games is a new studio from Jay Wilson and Julian Love. Wilson, who was also involved in the development of World of Warcraft and Overwatch before leaving Blizzard in 2016, was the controversial lead designer on Diablo 3 and later served as game director. Before leaving Blizzard in 2021, Love was the lead combat designer for Diablo Immortal and Diablo 4. He was the lead technical artist for Diablo 3, the primary special effects artist for the Diablo franchise, and the lead technical artist for Diablo 3.
Dan Kelly, former senior vice president of business and development for THQ and director of Disney, is the company’s president. Wilson and Love serve as designer and creative director, respectively, joined by president Dan Kelly. The new game studio is expanding rapidly and employs professional game developers who have produced AAA games for Blizzard and several other major game publishers.

Gas Giant Games’ first project is still a secret. During a private demo at the Game Developers Conference in late March, some publishers and investors will get their first look at the game, according to its initial press release. Gas Giant Gaming has yet to prepare to provide features. However, Wilson clarified that the title will be an action role-playing game that will feature brutal combat, compelling growth, and a unique survival experience. Although it is also considering mobile platforms, the company is currently working on its first project for PC and consoles.
This isn’t the first video game company founded by former Blizzard employees. Many new companies have been founded in recent years, including Dreamhaven, Lightforge Games, and Notorious Studios. Another company with a similar name, Frost Giant Studios, is working on an RTS game called Stormgate that aims to be a spiritual successor to StarCraft. Blizzard fans may soon find plenty of games created by popular developers inspired by their favorite AAA titles, as Gas Giant Games is likely to be heavily influenced by Diablo.
