Phil Foden will miss Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League home game against Liverpool after undergoing appendectomy, the English champions have announced.
The 22-year-old was ruled out of England’s 2-0 Euro 2024 qualifier win over Ukraine just ahead of Sunday’s game at Wembley.
Foden underwent surgery in London and it is not yet clear if he will be sidelined.
City have confirmed they will miss next week’s game against Liverpool at the Etihad.
“Phil will now return to Manchester to begin his rehabilitation,” City said in a statement.
“He will not be fit for this weekend’s Premier League game against Liverpool and it is unclear at this stage how long he will be unavailable.
City are struggling on three fronts, eight points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal, albeit with a game in hand.
