As Americans recover from the shock of revelations that the FBI launched a counterintelligence investigation into Donald Trump’s presidential campaign without good reason, the IRS is calling to say “hold my beer.”
Gary Shapley, a 14-year veteran of the Internal Revenue Service, testified behind closed doors to Congress on Friday morning. He claims that the politically sensitive investigation he led was obstructed and interfered with by his superiors and ultimately by the Justice Department itself.

Here’s what Shapley, who still works for the IRS, told CBS News. “There were some steps that were slow, just not fully done, at the behest of the Department of Justice.”
“When I took control of this particular investigation,” he added, “I immediately saw deviations from the normal process.” It was very different from what I have experienced in the past.”
Are we honestly supposed to believe it’s just a big coincidence that the first time in a career spanning more than a decade that every Shapley has witnessed such special treatment, Hunter Biden has been indicted?

We want it fixed—for good.
But not only are Biden and the Democrats uninterested in fighting corruption at the IRS, they want to spend $80 billion more to hire 87,000 tax agents.
Is it any wonder why Biden is giving cash to the very organization that supposedly protects his son?
In no sane world would we give an agency with such a long history of malicious bias even an extra penny, let alone tens of billions of dollars.
That is until and unless the core rot is cut.

That’s why House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is right to demand that this ridiculous IRS windfall be brought back in the debt ceiling negotiations.
This is not a swamp, but an ocean of corruption, and McCarthy and the Republicans know that the ship of state, and American trust in it, is taking on water like the Titanic. There could be no more important issue for the future of the country than for these agencies, whether it’s the IRS, the DOJ, the FBI, or any number of other organizations, to clean up from top to bottom.
This isn’t just a few bad apples, it’s a system of injustice. It’s a culture of bias.
Every Republican presidential candidate should put this at the top of their agenda, as Ron DeSantis did when he promised to fire FBI Director Christopher Wray. Each candidate must develop concrete plans to restore basic fairness to a federal bureaucracy that has delivered nothing and no one in recent history.
No more slow-walking the cases of powerful Democrats, no more IRS agents knocking on the doors of political dissidents, no more raids on Mar-a-Lago, no more Catholics being targeted in their churches by the DOJ, no more parents’ license plates. recorded in school board meetings.
