“Chelsea” has appointed a Nigerian coach as the new head coach

Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of Nigerian coach Hassan Suleiman as head coach of their under-18 team. The London-born manager takes over following former coach Ed Brands’ decision to join Swindon Town’s men’s team.

Former Arsenal youth player Suleiman first joined Chelsea as a manager in 2008. There he looked after an under-11 team that included Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori, both of whom played for the Blues. Since then he has continued to progress at the club, rising through a number of different roles at Cobham. His most recent position was under-16 coach before moving to the U-18 side.

Suleiman graduated from the University of Arts; London College of Communication in 2012 with a First Class in Marketing and Advertising; Event management. He was then granted a UEFA-A license in 2016, allowing him to take full charge of any under-18 club, reserve teams of Premier League clubs or professional men’s second division clubs.
