Air Fried Mushrooms – Belly Laugh Living

Fried mushrooms are one of the appetizers we always order when we go out. Now we have them at home with the fan made, so not only do we save money, we save a lot of calories. The other great thing about this recipe is that it’s completely customizable, like most of our recipes we like to personalize the dish based on what we’re feeling that day.

Other fun air fryer appetizers are goat cheese balls, pesto shrimp, coconut shrimp, and meatball madness.

Tips for making air-fried mushrooms

These mushrooms can be air fried or baked. It’s just faster to air fry them. Heck, you can even deep fry them. Some tips for cooking fried mushrooms.

  • Rinse the mushrooms in cold water to remove any dirt, then gently pat them dry with a paper towel.
  • If the mushrooms are large, cut them in half or quarters so they are bite-sized pieces
  • Insert toothpicks into several mushrooms. This helps keep the fingers clean and makes it really easy to transfer the mushrooms from the flour to the eggs to the panko. Then just use the toothpicks in the next step
Air fried mushrooms
  • Place eggs and milk in a 1/3 cup small bowl or measuring cup. This helps to dip the mushrooms and coat them completely.
  • Place the flour mixture in a shallow bowl
  • Dip the mushrooms in the flour mixture rather than the egg and then the panko.
Air fried mushrooms
  • Once all the mushrooms are coated, they are ready to be air-fried or baked. If air frying, spray the basket with cooking spray and place the panko mushrooms in the air fryer. Then spray the mushrooms with cooking spray. We like to use butter or olive oil spray.
  • Finally enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce. These mushrooms are so good that we usually eat them right out of the vent. Be careful they are hot and trust me if you don’t wait a minute or two the roof of your mouth will burn!!! We found ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing to be a really good dressing. I bet the cheese patty would be great too. Let us know your favorite sauce.
