The October 2022 event brought together experts to explore the Taiwan Strait perspective from the US-Japan alliance. The presenters with experience in the management of the USA and Japan considered the issue of the Taiwan Strait from the point of view of both countries. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Matthew Pottinger, US Deputy National Security Advisor from 2019 to 2021 and Asia Director of the National Security Council from 2017 to 2019.
Other presenters included Mr. Cortez Cooper, Senior International/Defense Fellow, RAND Corporation; Professor Matsuda Yasuhiro, Professor of International Politics, University of Tokyo; and Dr. Sheila Smith, John E. Murrow is a senior fellow in Asia-Pacific Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations. The discussion was moderated by RAND Corporation Senior Political Scientist Dr. Jeffrey W. Hornung.
