A man was stabbed on a carousel at a German fun fair

BERLIN (AP) — Officials closed a large amusement fair in western Germany on Sunday after a man was stabbed on a carousel.

Police said the 31-year-old victim and another man got into a fight while riding a carousel at a fairground in Munster, a city of about 300,000, on Saturday night.

During the argument, the suspect stabbed the victim. Despite attempts to revive him, the victim died on the spot.

According to the police, the two men did not know each other beforehand.

Police are still looking for the suspect and another man who was with him at the time of the attack, both of whom fled.

Sunday was supposed to be the final day of the fair, but city officials decided to end it early “out of respect for the victim,” Münster Mayor Markus Lew said in a statement.

A fair known as Send is held three times a year in Münster. According to the organizers’ website, it attracts up to one million visitors a year.
