Canada now has its first dire wolf.
Canadian fossil confirmed for first time to be from TV series’ Ice Age predator Game of Thrones. The specimen, located near Medicine Hat in southern Alberta, was tentatively identified decades ago, but a team at the Royal Ontario Museum used new technology to block it for good.
“It’s never been fully described,” said evolutionary biologist Ashley Reynolds, lead author of a paper published in the Journal of Quaternary Science. “This has never been done for this sample.”
